WITH ANTIQUE RE-BLADED TABLE & DESSERT KNIVES. LOVELY CONDITION AND GREAT QUALITY.
This set is made up of the original set for twelve, by Henry & John Lias in London 1860, supplied with:
one soup ladle, four sauce ladles, a pair of basting spoons, sugar tongs and four salt spoons.
And a second set bought presumably to enlarge the set to Twenty-four place settings in 1887/8. Made By Johnson Walker & Tolhurst, supplied with a sugar sifter & butter knife.
Interestingly, the Twenty-four pairs of knives are also made by Johnson Walker & Tolhurst, London 1906. Knives of this date are incredibly rare, the original knives would have been bone or ivory handled, with carbon steel blades that would have rusted over time.
